Short Story: Orders

So. A small two-part short story (Then shouldn't it be an Epic? But whatever).
Anyway, enjoy.

City of Arkansas, United States, Year 39XX.

Sgt. Jon Mess walked slowly through the ruined city of Arkansas with a rifle in hand, the planet had been devastated by a race of bug-like blue beings a few years ago. Many died in the following battle, while the rest were dominated and possessed as mind-less slaves.

The city was destroyed completely, buildings had been torn apart, cars were left in the streets in a near-decayed state. There was no sign of life in the city sans for the rats that had claimed the city as their own. The sky had a purple tint caused by some strange chemical released by the aliens.

Jon's mission was to find any survivors in the ruined city, so far he didn't have the pleasure of meeting any aliens - or survivors. Decided, he entered one of the decayed buildings and scanned the rooms, as predicted he didn't find any survivors, he had one last room to visit before he could leave the city.

Slowly he opened the door, without any idea of what he could find. What he found inside was a baby alien sleeping in a bed, the parents were nowhere to be found. Without missing the chance, he grabbed the rifle and aimed at the baby.

Before he could shoot, the two parents broke through the window and approached Jon, before the aliens could hurt him something happened to one of the aliens. It fell down dead with a shot on its head, the other alien looked at the window and growled and fell dead as its partner.

Jon looked at the window and stared at the opposing building, a sniper stood there and waved his hand at Jon then signaled him to go with him. Jon, decided, jumped from the building window and landed on the street and started walking to the other building...
